Home Made "Slime" for Kids this Summer
Summer time and fun does not have to cost a fortune !
Enjoy and afternoon with the kids making this home made slime-
to be used over and over all summer by the kids. Store in airtight baggies in the fridge to keep longer. Here are two recipes for you !!
Recipe # 1
- 1 TSP Borax Powder
- 1 1/2 Cups Water ( Divided into 3/4 each)
- 1 (4 oz) Bottle of Elmers Glue ( White or Clear)
- A Few drops of food coloring for each batch
- Optional- Colored Glitter Specs ( found at dollar stores)
Directions
* Remember let the kids do this - its fun for them to make it with you instructing *
- 1.In a Bowl put in 1 Cup of water, add borax, stir to discolve
- 2. In a another bowl, pour the bottle of glue into bowl and add 1/2 Cup Water, and add colored glitter to it- using a little wisk, mix this until its nice and smooth.
- 3. Now Slowly pour your borad solution into your glue solution- it will start to form into what looks like large cottage cheese curds.
- 4. At this point, with hands gather all the solids together into one ball squeezing the water out.
- 5. Keep kneeding and working this it will get firmer -If slime is too sticky, add a little more borax. If slime is too slippery, add a little more white glue solution.
- 6. Discard the liquid
Recipe # 2 ( Moms need to do as you have to cook this one)
2 Cups Water
1/2 Cup Cornstarch
Food Coloring
Directions
1. Bring your water to a boil in a medium pan.
2. Add cornstarch, then food coloring while stirring constantly.
3. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
4. This makes a slime that goes from liquid to solid, and is fun to play with.
