Kitchen Stew
I actually call this my Kitchen Stew - because each time it tastes different..We all have left overs like, meats, veggies, potatoes, etc. And I hate to toss left overs. You will want to save those left overs. Usually its the little bits amount left. - Baggie them in freezer bags and toss in the freezer. I actually have a drawer I use for it. When it gets full its time to Make Kitchen Stew.
I start with a Base of Sauteed Onions, Garlic, sometimes green peppers , About 8 cups of Beef Broth, Veggie Broth or Chicken Broth - what ever you prefer or have on hand. You can also put in Canned Tomatoes if you like. That is of course if your not using saved left over pasta sauce ( this works great too )
When you have enough goodies in the freezer- Take out and Defrost and Start adding everything to the pot or a large crock pot, and start simmering. Taste, because everything you had was already seasoned at one time. Add more seasonings you like or want.
To Thicken - just mix milk and water till smooth ( no lumps) bring your stew to a nice simmer , add and keep on simmering. If your doing this in a crock pot, do this at the last 30 minutes. Just add to the hot crock, stir, cover and let thicken.
This Particular one was done with Left Over Roast, Meatballs, , Corn, green beans, carrots, Onions , beef broth and seasonings. All done at different times
This works great for the crock pot too- you can toss it all in set on low and return at night and just thicken it and serve! So the next time your thinking about making something - just dig in that freezer, grab those left overs !
Now you know why I call it Kitchen Stew and why it tastes different each time ! Don't be afraid to experiment
