You Know You’re From the Midwest When…eating Maid-rites are on your weekly table !

Having spent many years in the Midwest I was introduced to the maid-rite sandwich. At first I was like OK its like a sloppy Joe? nope there is no sauce ! It became a family addiction so to save cost a little it was time I came up with my own recipe to make at home feeding a brood of kids..  Trust me, you just have to try it once ! 1 1/2 lb. hamburger
1 med. onion, minced
1 tbsp. prepared mustard
1 tbs paprika
1/2 c. rootbeer (soda) do not use diet
1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. salt or to taste

Ground your beef and onions, add in all other ingredients and simmer slow and low till the liquid is absorbed. Serve on warm hamburger buns piled high ! I also suggest making a double or triple batch because they will go fast
